So, you want to get started with email marketing, huh?
I’ve already given you all the tea on how to start sending a weekly newsletter.
And I’ve told you how I strategize + think of the best ideas to send my list.
And, if you’ve downloaded my free sample lead magnet and welcome sequence, you’ve already learned how to get more of the right people on your list.
…which leaves us to one of the most FUN parts of email marketing: creating the actual content to send in your newsletter!
And before you ask, yes, storytelling is pretty much required. And it’s easier than you think.
Okay, now that you’ve officially got allll these email newsletter ideas, here’s your homework for keeping the momentum going:
You’ll be surprised just how EASY it is to come up with topics to write about.
Between the ride to the airport and my not-quite-comfy spot in seat 16F en route to Phoenix for the second time this month, I thought of 14 newsletter ideas.
(1) Feeling anxious stuck in traffic on the way to the airport, nervous I wouldn’t make it in time → how you feel before a launch when you don’t appropriately prep and plan, CTA to work with me on my launch copy + strategy package OR read my blog post about what I did wrong on my first course launch (a blog that does not currently exist, even though I’ve been meaning to write it since April) OR join the waitlist for Site Series Sprint
(2) The fact that I booked my flight back to Phoenix, while still in Phoenix, after having the time of my life on a night out at cowboy bar Buffalo Chip → the luxury of being a freelance copywriter, CTA to inquire about mentorship so you can be financially free too
(3) The sexual tension between you and a medium ugly boy your age alone at the airport → how to make all types of leads fall for you via your homepage, CTA to read my homepage copywriting blogs. (I actually used this idea already, check it out right here!)
(4) Eating my Terry’s chocolate orange on the plane (in candy bar form, not the literal orange-shaped one, I’m not an animal) feeling uncomfortable cuz most people don’t like this candy → how you won’t be too much/too weird for the right people
See?! Anything can be content if you keep an open mind. 😏
One of the biggest hacks of creating content is repurposing it on other platforms. Here’s the email I wrote that used the content in this blog!
You can start with a newsletter and repurpose it into a blog, or vice versa. It doesn’t really matter.
What DOES matter is the quality and value you put into that original piece of content.
If you’re on my email list (and if you’re not, hello? Subscribe?), you’d probably be surprised at how often I repurpose blogs into newsletters. It doesn’t feel like the same content because I add a fresh angle, shorten it, or choose just one takeaway to talk about.
And yet, you get the same value, or even more, when I take what I’ve already written on my blog and use it in my emails.
Don’t spend your entire day creating content. See what you already have and how you can repurpose it.
If you’ve exhausted this list of newsletter ideas and still don’t know what the frick to write about that will actually make you money, you’re probably gonna want to subscribe to Swipe File.
I’ll send you five newsletter ideas just like the ones in this blog every single month. PLUS, I will give you a guide on how to write each one, subject lines for every topic, copywriting tips, a Pivot Line Library to help you connect your story to your CTA, and a video training.
You will never wonder what to write about again. And then you can use those ideas and repurpose them into blogs. I’m basically giving you all the content ideas you need for any platform you use. Just sayin’.
