The Magic Through Motion Course Launch

The BTL Client

Not only is Claire Oring the Founder of successful digital studio Oui Create, she is also an experienced Creative Director and Animator extraordinaire. Everything she touches turns to gold, and this project is no different.

The Project

I met Claire in the Create & Cultivate Facebook group back in the Fall of 2020, right after she posted about her need for a copywriter to assist with a couple of emails ASAP.

Me being the typical Capricorn-extrovert combo that I am, I left a quick comment on her post with a link to my website, and she reached out that same night. I responded to her email at 11pm on a weekend (please excuse my lack of work-life boundaries…) and the rest is history.

Those ‘couple of emails’ turned into one of my most cherished BTL projects to date, Magic Through Motion.

We collaborated on…

  • Long-form sales page copywriting
  • Promotional email sequence (if I remember correctly, it was over 25 emails…)
  • Lead magnet opt-in copy
  • Course bonuses for Magic Through Motion
  • Instagram caption writing

The Coolest Parts of the Course

Though Magic Through Motion is a course focused on teaching stop motion animation skills to artists and photographers, Claire’s extensive background working with brands allowed her to offer so much more. She chose to add on Guided Portfolio Challenges as a core element of Magic Through Motion, so her students could both learn the how-to’s of stop motion animation AND grow their portfolios while doing it.

Magic Through Motion also boasts an amazing collection of bonuses, including…

  • Done For You Brand Pitch Guide to expand existing networks and learn how to make confident introductions to dream-worthy brands
  • Customizable Client Welcome Guide to set the tone for future working relationships with healthy boundaries and showcase the process, timelines, and animation-specific business policies
  • Stop Motion Animation Proposal Template for clear presentations of creative concepts
  • Client Process Timeline and Checklist to ensure a smooth-sailing client experience using Claire’s exact client management process, including her comprehensive client intake form, shot list templates, and timeliens
  • Marketing Glossary for Creatives who don’t want to feel confused when communicating with Marketing teams as they collaborate on creative projects
  • Access to the Private Oui Academy Facebook group for all students to interact with each other, ask Claire and the Oui Create team specific questions, and ask for feedback on their work

The Target Audience

The Fence-Sitter Promise

When writing a sales page for a course launch, you always need to make sure you’re speaking directly to the people who are still sitting on the fence, half interested in the benefits and half nervous about the investment (whether it be the monetary investment, or the time-and-effort investment).

Magic Through Motion was priced at $1199 for Founding Members, and although discounted from its actual price of $1997, that’s still a sizable amount of money for an artist or photographer who may not yet have much disposable cash to invest in their career.

Also, becoming a student of Magic Through Motion definitely involves spending a good amount of time and energy not only taking the course, but also working on the homework assignments and portfolio challenges. In order for students to achieve their desired results, they were going to have to put in work.

But because our goal was to market to the people who really wanted stop motion success, neither of those barriers would truly be enough to deter them from signing up. Below is how we addressed the fence-sitters.

BTL’s Best Part

Definitely collaborating with Claire. She’s an extremely talented artist with a very impressive background in creative direction, marketing, and brand partnerships—it was so much fun to learn from her expertise while simultaneously offering her mine.

The Results

Throughout Claire’s cart-open period of 10 days, 44 students enrolled in the course. These are great results—especially with the price point of the course being in the 4-figure range. (Hello, that’s $50K+ in revenue!)

Now, I may be biased, but I think this is a true testament to the harmony between the gorgeous branding, the custom yet user-friendly web design, the copy (wink), the appeal of Claire’s expertise, and the clear benefit that her ideal clients weren’t able to pass up: adding a new, desirable skill to their repertoire, while learning both how to monetize it and how to showcase it in their actual portfolio.

Well done, MTM.

The Final Product

The Magic Through Motion sales page was created using Showit, and—if you’re my client and we’ve worked on a course launch together, stop reading this right now before I inadvertently hurt your feelings—is my favorite sales page design I’ve ever worked on. I am quite literally in love with it.
