SQUIRRELS, STAND UP!
…and stop trying to use the systems that your neurotypical peers are recommending!
Welcome to your hub for all things ADHD productivity, made for YOUR neurodivergent brain. If you’ve been wanting to learn from someone who has the same squirrely brain as you, hi. I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m a HUGE proponent of doing what works for YOUR brain, because…
IT DOESN’T WORK OUT.
BUT: that isn’t a bad thing!
It’s not like the triangular hole or the apple or the size 12 are inherently wrong or incorrect… they’re just different, and you’re simply trying to fit yourself into the wrong box — the box that just so happens to have been made for someone else.
When you’re a business owner with ADHD, it is completely normal for other people’s recs for systems and platforms and productivity hacks and focus tips and schedules to straight up NOT WORK FOR YOU.
I tell my students + mentees alllll the time:
🐿️ DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOUR BRAIN 🐿️
Because trying to listen to advice from people who don’t live the same lifestyle, or have the same neurodivergent tendencies, or have the same goals?
NOT GONNA GET U WHERE U WANNA BE.
I’m sharing what works for me and my cute lil squirrel brain on my podcast, Point of the Story (aka the only podcast you won’t have to listen to on 2x speed) — consider this your official guide to how to manage your ADHD as a business owner, mother, or simply a person who needs to stop squirreling all over town.
Even though it may feel way too difficult right now — breakup, burnout, bitching about everything — you CAN get a fucking grip. It won’t be easy, but if you focus on getting a little bit closer each day and doing what works for you, you definitely will. I’m giving you two proven strategies for getting a fucking grip after a “sad season” (and I’m speaking from lots of experience).
A very classic episode where I reflected on three whole decades of wins, fails, and lessons — ranging from life-changing truths to random, hilarious realizations that hit me like a truck. If you’re a fellow overachiever, procrastinator, or someone just trying to get a grip (same), this one’s for you.
Managing ADHD while running a business is not for the faint of heart. (Think: trying to focus while a squirrel does cartwheels in your brain.) This episode has it all — real-life tips you can put into practice today, personal stories (obviously), so many tangents I lost count, and even a blooper reel at the end. And since this one is for my fellow squirrels, I swore I’d keep it short — spoiler: I absolutely did not.
What would I do if I woke up tomorrow with zero clients, zero leads, and had to start my business from scratch? (Other than cry, obviously.) That’s what we’re covering in this episode — exactly how I’d market my brand if I had to do it all over again. So grab a notebook, because I’m laying out the full game plan!
I wanted this episode to feel like a cozy little pep talk for the creative entrepreneurs who’ve got 17 ideas, 43 open tabs, and a Notes app full of brilliance — but somehow still feel stuck on “where the hell do I start?”
In this episode, Kelsey and I talk all things launch strategy for squiggly-brained creatives, what to do when your audience is cold and your confidence is colder, and why setting a deadline might just change your life.
You’ve clearly noticed by now that I have an ADHD-friendly podcast, but what you may not know is that I also send a weekly Substack newsletter, the Sunday Squirlie, all about how to optimize your time and productivity as a neurodivergent person and business owner.
It’s completely free, and I take requests! I’d love for you to subscribe and tell me what you’re hoping for support with as an ADHDer, and I’ll share my tips with you every Sunday afternoon.
[I’ll be updating this post quarterly, adding all my new podcast episodes that come out about this topic, so make sure you bookmark it & check it regularly for new info!]
